I am finally off of night shift. This week I am working in garden, and next week on I will be floating between three or so areas of the store. Due to the transition of shifts I wound up with a three day weekend that coincided with payday. Jennifer and I took this opportunity for a small excursion.

We went to Fredericksburg and pitched a tent. Our plan was to go camping Sunday night (Jennifer hadn’t been camping before), tour the city, then stop at Inner Space on the way home. But the tent was new and like some kind of idiot I forgot to put sealant on the seams. So when we got hit by a flash flood, our tent got soaked. We said “fuck this”, packed up, and left. We could have toured the city but that is really something that you do on foot, which we weren’t about to do in the rain. So it was off to the caverns, except that the storm was in Austin/Georgetown too, so they would be flooded and closed as well.

All in all, we were gone for less than twenty-four hours and put over six hundred miles on our new car in that time. Hardly anything at all went as planned. And we overdrew our account taking this trip. Yet it was the best trip ever! It seemed like the more went wrong, the more fun we had.

Ah, the joy of being young.
