Running WordPress

After using TextPattern for several years, I have switched over to WordPress. I have of course had to make some compromises since I was so dependent on Txp, but I think most of them are worthwhile. The biggest one is that this site will look much better in browsers that use Gecko (such as FireFox or Camino) than Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, etc. You should get Firefox anyway.

If you go to comment you will also discover that registration is now required. I may wind up changing that, but I think that will make things easier on everyone. Let me know if you think different.

Depot screwed me out of some money, so my rent check bounced. But I got a crap load of hours last week so the late fees shouldn’t be a problem.

We are moving after all, this weekend to be precise.

If you see anything that needs to be done with my design, please shoot me an email (with screenshots if possible) and I will do what I can.

Photos

Now that Google has given us a photo album I have taken all my non-pornographic pictures out of iPhoto and put them online.

View my photo album at picasaweb.google.com/joshiesurber/. And be sure to add it to your bookmarks, subscribe to the RSS feed, flag me as a friend if you have a Google account, et cetera et cetera.

I just can’t wait for the Mac version of Picasa so I can manage photos even easier. For the first time I am envious of you Windoze people. (Not by much, though).

And everyone quit posting comments that you want photos, dammit!

Yeah, after trying to create a custom template, I have decided that I miss TextPattern.

I am migrating back on my home computer, and when I am done it will go back online. I would still recommend WP for anyone who is setting up their first blog and doesn’t require their own templates, but as I regularly redesign my site, I defiantly want the template-editing power of TextPattern.

I got my first speeding ticket the other day, for going 54 in a 40. I am going to take a defensive driving class, so hopefully it will go away.

Soon I hope to have a new job, driving the trucks that deliver the donuts and such to 7-Eleven. It is supposedly easy and pays almost $15 an hour.
